CITY KIDS ASSOCIATE
Ministry Purpose The City Kids Associate serves to further the mission of City Kids and City Church by supporting and equipping volunteers to disciple kids, partnering with parents and guardians in family discipleship, and maintaining a high standard of safety, growth, and connection within City Kids. This is a full-time position. The City Kids Associate reports to the Kids Pastor.
The City Kids Associate will be responsible for the following:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Modeling Biblical Priorities
Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of City Church. The City Kids Associate should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. This person models a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable). The City Kids Associate strives to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships, and actions.
These objectives are accomplished by:
• Committing to a daily quiet time with God.
• Participating in a City Church small group on a regular basis.
• Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity.
• Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of City Church employees, as defined by the Staff Handbook.
2. Oversight and Execution of City Kids Early Childhood Experiences
Responsible for creating programs that provide safe, engaging, and fun experiences that lead kids to understand who Jesus is and what He says about them.
This is accomplished by:
• Developing and executing a discipleship pathway for early childhood ages (0-5 years) alongside the Kids Pastor.
• Coordinating curriculum and Sunday class preparation for all early childhood classes.
• Overseeing the volunteer scheduling for all early childhood teams for Sunday mornings and special events.
3. Leadership of Volunteer Teams
Success in this role will be best accomplished by prioritizing an investment in early childhood ministry leaders who, in turn, influence parents and kids. The City Kids Associate is responsible for assisting the Kids Pastor in creating an environment that attracts, develops, and empowers the leaders providing ministry programming to all early childhood kids by:
• Sharing the vision of City Kids.
• Utilizing systems that lead people from being spectators to volunteers.
• Executing City Kids safety and security systems outlined in the City Kids Handbook (e.g. application, background checks, sexual abuse awareness training, etc.).
• Leading volunteer huddles on Sunday mornings
• Participating in and providing ongoing training, development and discipleship of our Early Childhood volunteers
Qualifications
• A degree in ministry or education is highly encouraged
• A heart for discipleship, serving, and leading
• Ability to work with kids of all ages (infants-5th grade)
• Experience with volunteer recruitment, retainment, and training
• Skills and strategies for classroom and behavior management
• Experience with creating lessons, lessons plans, and/or kid’s ministry curriculum
• Able to make solid decisions on the spot
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Team player
• Self-starter
• Growth mindset
